Want a Celebrity Smile? Consider Veneers

If you’re wanting to fix several cosmetic dental flaws from crooked teeth to stains, dental veneers might be right for you. In fact, there’s not much these wafer-thin shells can’t do. So, if you’re looking for a treatment that not only addresses a myriad of smile flaws but also gives you a brilliant smile akin to a celebrity’s, we say veneers are a no-brainer.

Our team led by Abraham Nobel, DDS, MPH, at Nobel Dentistry in Los Angeles, California, has extensive experience in helping people achieve their smile goals with dental veneers. In this blog, we review everything you need to know about this transformative treatment.

What veneers can and can’t treat

If you’re looking to correct any of these issues, dental veneers are a great option for you:

Dental veneers are often a great alternative to other treatments such as crowns or braces since they can fix one tooth or your whole smile in one visit.

It’s important to note, however, that veneers aren’t able to be used for teeth that are severely damaged or decayed. In addition, if you have advanced gum disease or need a root canal, those issues must be addressed before you can qualify for veneers.

For these reasons, we conduct a thorough dental exam — including X-rays  — before starting the dental veneers process.

How does the veneers process work?

Getting dental veneers requires three separate appointments. The first appointment consists of the dental exam and Dr. Nobel confirms you’re a candidate for veneers or discusses your other options if you aren’t.

If you do qualify for veneers, at your second appointment, Dr. Nobel prepares your teeth by filing down a layer of surface enamel. This helps ensure that your veneers lay flat against your neighboring teeth. He then finishes this session by taking a mold of your teeth so the veneers are a perfect color and size match.

After your custom veneers arrive, you come in for your final appointment. Dr. Nobel checks that your veneers fit well and makes any necessary changes before putting them in place with dental cement.

Caring for your new celebrity smile

Because veneers are custom-tinted to blend in with the rest of your smile, they’ll be indistinguishable from the rest of your natural teeth.

They require the same care as your natural teeth, so keep up a healthy oral hygiene routine. Brush twice a day, floss once a day, and see us regularly for dental cleanings. As long as you take proper care of them, veneers can last 7-15 years.
